ALBA-TCP evaluates the regional situation in its Political Council

This meeting will take place in the context of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly and will be attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of its member states.

The purpose of the meeting of the Political Council of ALBA-TCP is to “evaluate the regional political situation and its perspectives. Alliance for life!” the integration mechanism pointed out on its Twitter account.

The Venezuelan Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations revealed days ago that at the meeting the foreign ministers will also agree on the Alliance’s joint position on different multilateral issues.

As part of the preparations for the meeting, the executive secretary of the integrating body, Sacha Llorenti, held exchanges with Venezuelan authorities and other members of the group by videoconference.

Among them, he spoke with the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría, with the aim of reviewing the work agenda to strengthen Latin American and Caribbean integration.

He also spoke with the Deputy Minister for Latin America of the Foreign Ministry, Rander Peña, in order to agree on the work strategy in the political, economic, cultural and sports fields for the next semester.

The Political Council of the Latin American and Caribbean multilateral organization is made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of each member country and among its functions it advises the Presidential Council.

In their last meeting in March 2021, the participants denounced the warmongering and domination policies of Western countries, in particular the United States, which do not cease in their attempts to bend sovereign countries, not even in the midst of the deep world crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

ALBA-TCP is made up of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Saint Lucia.
