The Italian Fabbio Cannavaro, world champion in 2006 and former player of Real Madrid, became this Wednesday the new coach of Benevento, a Serie B team, the second category of Italian footballin what will be his first contact with European football from the bench.
“Benevento are pleased to announce that they have entrusted the role of first team coach to Fabio Cannavaro,” the Italian club said.
After directing teams such as the Saudi Al-Nassr, the Chinese Guangzhou Evergrande or the Chinese national team far from the European borders, Cannavaro faces his first experience in charge of a team in Europe.
The former ‘azzurro’ captain, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2006will take charge of a Benevento from next Thursday that in the first six games has added three defeats, two wins and a draw, which leaves it as thirteenth in the table, far from the promotion positions.
