CONMEBOL gives a keynote Conference on Sports Law to UNA students

  • More than 120 students from the National University of Asunción (UNA) gathered in person and online at the Conference on Sports Law, given by CONMEBOL, and which is valid for university extension.

The South American Football Confederation, through its Legal Department, gave this Monday, September 19, a masterful Conference on Sports Law, aimed at more than 120 UNA students, who participated in the presentation in person and online.

The meeting took place in the auditorium of the governing body of South American football, in Luque, Paraguay, and will serve to validate the university extension required by the faculty.

Dr. Monserrat Jiménez, Deputy Secretary General and Legal Director of CONMEBOL, opened the presentation on Governance, highlighting the three pillars of the institution: Reinvest in Soccer, Clear Rules and Leading Institution.

“Sport and justice unites us. It is a privilege to work on what we like and are passionate about, that is why, at CONMEBOL, we feel in a privileged place to remain committed and work with transparency and fairness on and off the field of play.» highlighted Dr. Monserrat Jiménez.

Prof. Dr. Carlos González Morel, Vice Dean of the UNA Law School, thanked CONMEBOL for its collaboration in holding this important seminar.

“It is an honor for us to unite through Sports Law and we thank CONMEBOL for opening the doors for us to learn, analyze and debate among great colleagues and friends”, Morel said.

During the magisterial Sports Law Conference, Abog. Mariano Zavala, Director of Judicial Bodies of CONMEBOL, spoke about the disciplinary processes and the current regulatory framework in the tournaments organized by CONMEBOL.

In another of the papers, Abog. Julio Lansac, Responsible for Integrity, provided details regarding the institution’s codes and regulations on Integrity.

Finally, the Advocate. Luis Gómez, Head of the Disciplinary Unit, addressed the Regulatory Reforms in Sports Law.

CONMEBOL, through the Legal Department, works transparently in cooperation with educational institutions, which seek to train leaders in the judicial and sports fields.

On September 9, CONMEBOL closed Module III of the CIES/FIFA Diploma in Soccer Law, aimed at training sports legal executives.
