Sarah Essam Hassanin (April 6, 1999, Cairo, Egypt) is a new player of the Feminine Albacete Foundation. It is about an Egyptian striker who arrives in Albacete as a free agent and signed for one season after playing for Stoke City Football Clubfrom the English league.
The player started playing soccer when she was only 15 years old when she signed for the Wadi Degla Sporting Club, a native of Cairo, and at the same time, she was called up to her country’s U-17 women’s team for the qualifications of the 2016 World Cup. In addition, she played as an international in the Women’s African Cup of Nations that same year.
Sarah became the first Egyptian player to play professionally in Europe by signing for Stoke City and, in her first year, she was the season’s top scorer.
At the age of 19, she received the award for ‘Arab Woman of the Year: Success in Sport’ and, the following year, she repeated as the top scorer for her team with 12 goals in 12 games.
Also, She is the official ambassador of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, being the first, and only Arab woman, who has obtained that role throughout history.
Now, Sarah Essam arrives at Fundación Albacete to contribute goals to the La Mancha team and be a fundamental piece for the team led by Roberto Cantarero. In her presentation this Thursday as a new player for the white team, the Egyptian has indicated that “Albacete is a good way to continue my career, I hope to help the team achieve its goals and Spanish football is very different from English”.
