Industry and manufacturing exports grow in Paraguay

Asunción, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan exports of industry and manufacturing between January and August 2022 reached three thousand 838 million dollars, 19 percent more than in the same period of 2021, official sources reported today.

A report from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce detailed that this figure represents 67 percent of the total goods exported so far this year.

He stressed that one thousand 18 million dollars correspond to the sale abroad of manufacturing products, an amount 27 percentage points higher than that reported in the same calendar of 2021.

The main destinations of these goods were countries of the Southern Common Market —Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay—, the United States, Chile, Bolivia, Germany, Canada, India, Peru and Ecuador.

The list of exported manufactured items is led by clothing and auto parts, followed by aluminum, herbicides, fertilizers, plastics, iron, paper, cardboard, copper and pharmaceutical products.

Regarding the export of agro-industrial goods, the statistics register an increase of 16 percent in relation to the first eight months of 2021, totaling two thousand 820 million dollars.

Meat products and their derivatives, vegetable and animal oil, flour, cake and waste, beverages, leather, bakery mix and sugar stood out in the sector, mainly sent to Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
