Lula wins victory 26 in justice in Brazil

Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva today exhibits his 26th triumph in the Brazilian justice system after filing another unduly opened investigation against him.

According to the portal lula.com.br, the judicial victory was confirmed after the decision of the tenth Criminal Court of the Federal District on the so-called Ministrão case.

With the ruling, the complaint that sought to criminalize Lula’s appointment as Minister of the Civil House during the government of former president Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016) was set aside.

Such action, recorded the day after the accusation of the so-called Quadrilhão of the PT (Workers’ Party), was never received by the justice system due to lack of materiality.

According to the site, the favorable results obtained by the former labor leader “in absolutely all the legal proceedings filed against him are proof of the intense legal persecution of which he was a victim” and demonstrate his innocence.

The lawsuit has just been filed by prescription, after more than six years of investigation.

Throughout that period, justice recognized that the fanciful accusation of alleged “criminal organization”, in fact, was an attempt to criminalize politics and that the leaked audios which led to that process were deliberately manipulated by the former judge and former minister of Justice Sergio Moro.

Rehabilitated in politics after recovering his rights in March 2021, the former president will seek a third term in the October elections after serving 580 days in political prison and having his sentences annulled.

No other candidate for the Planalto Palace (seat of the Executive Power) overshadows Lula, who leads all the opinion polls towards the vote with a clear advantage, despite the re-election intentions of the ultra-right-leaning president Jair Bolsonaro.
