Singer Michelle Branch and Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney have called it quits after three years of marriage. Branch and Carney married in April 2019 and have two children, one of whom is just six months old. Pitchfork has confirmed that yesterday Branch was arrested, fined and released the same day on $1,000 bail after being charged with domestic violence. According to TMZthe arrest occurred after Branch slapped the Black Keys drummer in the face.
These news come after a tweet from the singer, already deleted, in which she denounced her partner for having cheated on her with another woman. Carney has neither confirmed nor denied the allegation. In a statement, Branch has said she is “totally devastated”, but she has clarified that saying this “does not even serve to describe how I feel for my family and for myself.” In addition, she has made a request to the media: “With children so young, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
The separation of the couple comes on the eve of the release of Branch’s new album, entitled ‘The Trouble With Fever’, which would go on sale on September 16. ‘The Trouble With Fever’ was composed during the pandemic and is co-produced by the other protagonist of the story, his partner Patrick Carney. As for the Black Keys, their latest album (‘Drop Out Boogie’) was released last May.
