Authorities and emergency teams in Philadelphia responded to a shooting that left at least five injured Friday afternoon in the Frankford sector.

According to police, the incident occurred outside a home in the 5300 block of Charles Street in the afternoon. The home is one block from Mastery Charter Smedley Elementary School.

The shooting reportedly left at least five injured, including a 33-year-old African-American man, two Hispanics aged 39 and 30, and a 32-year-old Hispanic woman.

DF Pace, the Police Inspector, reported that at least two of the injured are in critical condition after being shot in the neck, stomach and back. The other two are in stable condition.

Police say the shooting was sparked when a white car, believed to be a 2000 Ford Focus, pulled up in the street and fired at least 25 shots at a house.

“Several houses were targeted by bullets, just as families in the neighborhood were enjoying the good weather,” said Inspector DF Pace.

Pace concluded that fortunately the bullets did not hurt anyone inside the residence, where there were at least three minors between one and 12 years of age.

The car used in the shooting is believed to have been stolen a week earlier during an apparent robbery.
