Rey Pila presents six new songs on EP

The Successor Album Verox Veritas (2020) was conceived “between the pandemic, the city, the desert and the confusion”, says the band in an Instagram post. EP It brings together the previously released singles “Amygdalae”, “IQ Test” and the two-part opus “Phantom Pain”, and is completed with two unreleased ones: “White Shoes” and “Natural Causes”. The retro-futurism brand of the house continues to be present in EPwith its palpable influences of post punk, new wave and the darker streak of indie rock from the beginning of the millennium.

Rey Pila was born in Mexico City in 2010, initially as the solo project of Diego Solórzano, former vocalist and composer of Los Dynamite. The band finished forming with Rodrigo Blanco, Andrés Velasco and Miguel Hernández, and in July of that year they released their self-titled debut album that put them at the center of the Mexican alternative scene. Discs followed. The Future Sugar (2015) –the theme that gives it its name has guest Julian Casablancas– and the aforementioned Velox Veritas (2020), in addition to the EPs Wall of Goth (2017) and Lucky No.7 (2019).
