SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – Salt Lake City Police Department patrol officers arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly fired multiple shots from a handgun near three minors during a fight.
At approximately 1:33 am Thursday, police received multiple reports of shots fired near 1740 West Gertie Avenue. At least one person who called 9-1-1 said the suspect had a gun and pointed it at two others.
Multiple officers responded quickly and safely arrested Siupapa Muliaga, 21. Officers also detained two other minors for questioning.
Preliminary investigation shows that Muliaga approached three minors, whose ages are unknown, and got into a fight with them. During the discussion, Muliaga fired several shots from a pistol. One of the three minors ran away before the police arrived.
In addition, the suspect would have beaten the two of the minors before the police arrived. Officers took the minors involved to their homes where they were released.
During the investigation, agents found the gun allegedly used by Muliaga.
Officers transported Muliaga to the Salt Lake County Metropolitan Jail and booked him on charges of discharging a firearm.
