Tesla recalls almost 1.1 million vehicles in the US for window software

WASHINGTONSep 22 – Tesla has recalled nearly 1.1 million vehicles in the United States because the automatic window reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstacle, increasing the risk of injury.

The electric vehicle manufacturer notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that would perform a software update of the automatic window reversal system.

The recall covers some 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles.

Tesla said it was not aware of any warranty claims, field reports, crashes, injuries or deaths related to the problem.

The NHTSA He said a window that closes without the proper automatic reversing system can exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.

Tesla said that as of September 13, production and pre-delivery vehicles received a software update that adjusts power window operation to requirements.

Shares of Tesla were down 3.5% in trading on Thursday afternoon.
