The Launch X LATAM initiative helps young Latin Americans to become certified as developers and enhance their job opportunities

The initiative seeks to close the skills gap in the region, which has a significant demand for these profiles and does not have enough talent to supply it.

More than 10,000 young people and professionals in the region have already signed up to be trained in the skills most desired by the market and thus become the engines of digital transformation in Latin America.

Technology plays a fundamental role in the economic reactivation, employment and competitiveness of the region, helping all organizations to recover and improve their productivity, optimize processes, reimagine their businesses and operations.

Adapting the skills of Latin American students and professionals to the new demands of the market is essential to be able to take advantage of the opportunities of digital transformation. Although it is a global challenge, in the Latin American region the skills gap that enhances employment and transformation is still considerable: according to the World Bank, only between 5% and 15% of adults in most countries in the region have medium or high-level computer and problem-solving skills (compared to 29.7% in OECD countries). At the same time, already in the professional field, the IDC estimates that the demand for certified and updated IT professionals will grow 10 times by 2030.

Although it is a challenge throughout the world, the shortage of qualified personnel in technology is of particular concern in Latin America, where youth employment still faces great challenges. In the Colombian case, for example, according to the ICT Ministry, in 2021, 150,000 programmers were needed to meet the demand. Thus, despite the existence of employment opportunities, there is a clear lack of qualified personnel.

To help close this skills gap and promote opportunities that leave no one behind, Microsoft launched its Launch X LATAM training initiative on September 12, inviting anyone interested in acquiring full stack development skills (front end and back end) to join these trainings in the skills with more job opportunities globally.

LaunchX, which already has more than 10 thousand registered throughout the region, is an ideal introductory experience for all those who have minimal knowledge in digital skills and are interested in learning the fundamentals to be a Full Stack Developer. It is a 100% digital program for which it is not necessary to have a university degree.

Launch X LATAM lasts for three months, during which students will take part in training sessions and conversations with technology experts. With the support of Virtual Innovation expert knowledge, participants will be able to develop FrontEnd and BackEnd skills with Javascript. with training, coaching and learning sessions for developers.

The training will be carried out by experts from Microsoft’s partners, Virtual Innovation, who will provide various digital content so that you can discover more in detail about some of the following topics:
