MEXICO CITY, September 23 (EL UNIVERSAL).- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that Ukraine welcomes the peace proposal made by Mexico at the UN to find a way out of the war with Russia.
In his morning conference this Friday at the National Palace, López Obrador pointed out that during the UN General Assembly, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
“Yesterday Marcelo Ebrard informed me, at the UN, that he met with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, and that he told him that they saw our peace proposal well,” he commented in the Treasury Room.
He said that the Russian foreign minister rejected the statements of Mijailo Podolyak, adviser to the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, who described the proposal as a Russian plan.
“And that the man who had written a Twitter against saying that our proposal was in favor of Russia, did not have any authorization from the Ukrainian government, that is what Marcelo Ebrard informed me, who met with the Ukrainian minister. It is interesting, right? Let it be known not because they made a scandal,
well,” he explained.
Mexico proposed the creation of a committee to achieve peace in Ukraine, made up of António Guterres, Secretary General of the UN; the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and Pope Francis. For this, a five-year truce would be declared to resolve the differences.
