The creator of ‘Breaking Bad’, Vince Gilligan, assures that he wanted to create a based on the universe of the acclaimed television series, very similar to Grand Theft Auto (GTA). Although there were attempts to do so, the writer and producer indicates that there is not much hope that any will come to light.

I’m not much of a gamer, but how come someone doesn’t know Grand Theft Auto? I remember telling the boys, [que están] running part of Apple now… who originally said yes to Breaking Bad: ‘Who owns Grand Theft Auto? Couldn’t there be an expansion or something for Breaking Bad?’. It still makes sense to me!”, assures Gilligan, in the podcast ‘Inside The Gilliverse’, which is focused on the universe of the series.

The also creator of ‘Better Call Saul’ affirms that even an attempt was made to specify a title. “There have been quite a few attempts to [hacer] video game. And some of them somehow made it to the market. We tried to make a virtual reality experience with the Sony PlayStation VR headset. We made a mobile game that didn’t last long“, Add.

Also, Gilligan explains that it is not so easy to create a game of any franchise. “Making a video game is very difficult, because of the little I learned through this process. It literally takes years and years and millions of dollars, especially when you’re trying to break new ground with VR and all that. It never came to fruition. It’s a shame”, he adds.

In the interview, the writer also comments that, if there is a video game about the universe he has created, it would have to be at the same level as the series. He even joked about ET’s game for the Atari 2600, which is considered one of the worst, as he claims that their characters and their world must be “cool” to work like on the small screen.

For these reasons, Although Gilligan tried to create one before, it is unlikely that a title set in the universe of ‘Breaking Bad’ or even its spin-off, ‘Better Call Saul’ will come to light.. The same creator points out that he is not planning to visit the franchise in the short term.
