Wife of Man Slain in Suspected Road Rage Incident Speaks in San Lorenzo – NBC Bay Area

Relatives of the young man who died after an alleged incident of rage at the wheel over the weekend in San Lorenzo expressed disbelief at what happened.

“I can’t sleep, I’m exhausted,” said Anna Tolentino, mother of Rienhart Asuncion.

Anna said her son Rienhart was out shopping Sunday when around 4:27 pm, a shooting occurred at the intersection of Herperian Boulevard and Lewelling Boulevard.

Rienhart was talking to his wife, who is in the Philippines, when the incident occurred.

Princess Barros-Asuncion, Rienhatr’s wife, assured that she heard him arguing with another person. Even though she begged him not to get out of her truck, he did.

“I heard multiple shots. I know it was him,” Princess said. “But I had hope in my heart that he could pull it off.”

Witnesses to the event claimed to have seen Rienhart’s truck and another vehicle driving at high speed. When both motorists stopped at a red light, Asunción would have gotten out of his vehicle to talk to the other driver and that was when the suspect would have shot him at least 6 times.

“I got out of the car and that’s when the shots rang out,” witness Dave Cobb said.

Rienhart was pronounced dead and the suspect fled the scene onto Highway 880.

So far, the authorities have not revealed further details of the case so as not to compromise the investigation.
