XII National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba is convened in Venezuela

The event will pay special tribute to the Venezuelan revolutionary Alí Rodríguez Araque and social and political organizations from this country, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network will participate.

The general coordinator of the Movement, Yhonny García, told Prensa Latina that the event will propose four discussion tables and more than 150 national delegates are expected to participate. These, he said, will be related to the economic, commercial and financial blockade and unilateral coercive measures as forms of imperialist aggression; communication and counterculture as imperial weapons against the independence and sovereignty of the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba.

They also include the role of women and youth in the context of mutual solidarity between the two countries and the organization of solidarity in the South American nation.

García referred that these four thematic axes have a lot to do with the wars that North American imperialism “has declared against the peoples who decided to be free and carry out their autonomy and self-determination.”

He indicated that this call includes the more than 18 regional solidarity movements throughout the country, which after two years will face each other for the first time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The general coordinator of the Venezuela-Cuba Mutual Friendship and Solidarity Movement stated that with this new edition they will pay tribute “to the memory, loyalty and revolutionary resume of Alí Rodríguez Araque”, who was the ambassador of Caracas in Havana.

During the three days of sessions we will reaffirm all the organic content of the organization, which will be 20 years old next year, he stressed.

He stressed that with the coming to power of Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) a new way of making solidarity between Venezuela and Cuba was configured, not only “in a single way, but in a mutual way”, reflected today in the great projects associated with the Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement between the two countries.

He announced that on the final day they will present a final declaration that will serve as the basis for the 2023 work agenda, and thus guarantee the continuity of the banners of struggle for the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba.
